Description:

Support operations in the formulation and execution of their in-country international strategy to grow international segment market share and revenues (International Long Distance and Roaming). Responsible of Africa International revenue performance – identifying and executing regional synergies by analyzing and negotiating inter-carrier wholesale and roaming tariffs, discount agreements and retail propositions that will increase revenues and margin contribution to the region.

International Segment Strategic Leadership
• Work with markets to formulate holistic plan to attract, grow and retain international segment while also minimizing the impact of OTT/VOIP on revenues
• Partner with CU and analytics to obtain the right insights to formulate targeted value propositions
• Ensure that operations have the right organization and enablers to grow international customer segment revenues
• Partner with other commercial teams and business units to leverage different product lines to build value propositions to capture and grow international segments
• Ensure that alignment exists (where appropriate) between countries so that synergies are leveraged
• Provide tools development and training
• Lead the ILD and Roaming teams in the regional team to deliver value and influence positively the International managers across the different African operations

Leveraging regional synergies on wholesale side
• Manage and improve the international wholesale business strategy for the African region, including
carrier management, least-cost and/or best quality routing and, in coordination with technical areas to define and deploy necessary technology solutions
• Manage and improve the roaming wholesale business strategy for the African region, including
roaming negotiations, IOT discounts, steering and, in coordination with technical areas to define and deploy necessary technology solutions
• Work with revenue assurance to ensure a rigorous control environment in the international business across the African operations following (and complementing where necessary) current company’s policies
• Support Revenue Assurance to implement Global strategies aimed at eliminating all grey or illegal traffic (by-pass) terminating in the African networks.
• Implement the business plan and technology roadmap regarding solutions to mitigate the intrinsic risks of the business, including the threat posed by new products such as VoIP and others.
Desired Skills and Experience

Required Qualifications:

• Extensive experience working in mobile/carriers business/ ILD/roaming departments
• Experience in commercial (retail) positions
• Experience in an interconnect department is a plus
• Experience in dealing with teams in different regions/countries is a plus
• English proficiency and French is a plus

• Extensive knowledge of the mobile commercial environment, from wholesale, to pricing to customer delivery
• Uses deep understanding of the different markets and trends to create an African International strategy
• Great at working with the team so that activity is aligned to business strategy; understands trends and market influences and how market changes need to be reflected in the business plan
• Proactively works with team to know the performance and capability of the team, ensuring underperformance is addressed, potential is developed and everyone receives feedback, coaching and training – to maximise their contribution.
• A commercial heavyweight on international business – a strategic businessperson first and an analytics specialist second. Is holistic in approach, actively involved in the development of the international business and influencing the company to make the right decisions for the future.
