Key Responsibilities:
Group Head of Internal Audit – Caribbean
Reporting to the Audit Committee.Lead and supervise the Internal Audit Staff as they carry out the Internal Audit function to review and assess processes, controls, practices, and related procedures according to the yearly audit plans approved by the Audit Committee so as to provide the Company’s management, the Audit Committee and the Board with an independent, objective assurance designed to add value, improve the company’s operations and ensure compliance with regulatory and statutory requirements.
• Provide guidance to internal audit staff to ensure that operational, information technology, financial and compliance audits are performed according to the yearly audit plans and in accordance with international standards
• Supervise internal audit staff’s review of the systems established to ensure compliance with those policies, plans, procedures, laws and regulations which have a significant impact on the operation including Anti Money Laundering policy and Insurance Acts and ensure that reports on whether or not the company is complying with these policies, plans, procedures, laws and regulations are sent to the Audit Committee
• Provide the necessary guidance to internal audit staff and review of their work in order to ensure that recommendations are prepared for all levels of management, and that the results are presented to management
• Ensure that internal audit staff engage in discussions with management regarding control and process weaknesses identified during the audit (inclusive of the reason for their existence/occurrence, remedial action to be taken and implementation dates for agreed remedial action) and supervise the internal audit staff’s follow up with management regarding outstanding remedial action items
• Supervise internal audit staff’s provision of advisory services as needed e.g., for special investigations, or for projects being undertaken by the Company (inclusive of the development of new information systems) to ensure that efficient and effective controls are incorporated
• Provide on-the-job training, coaching, mentoring and development of internal audit staff
• Supervise the co-ordination between internal audit staff and the GRC Department with respect to compliance audits and risk assessments to avoid duplication of effort and ensure efficient and effective compliance and risk operations
• Supervise the internal audit staff’s provision of any support to the external audit process in furtherance of an efficient and effective audit.
• Ensure that the internal audit function abide by the Internal Audit Charter and executes its responsibilities in supporting the Audit Committee to discharge its responsibilities
• Review all reports issued by the IAD and maintain the Internal Audit SharePoint to make sure that it is kept up-to-date
• Ensure that IAD maintains a quality assurance improvement program and maintain compliance with documents governing the internal audit function
Required Qualifications:

• Recognized accounting or audit qualification (CIA, CPA, RA, CA, ACCA, CGA)
• Internal auditing experience and additional one or more of specialist qualifications e.g., CISA, CFSA, CFE
• 8 + years of post-qualification auditing experience
• 3 + years of the management experience in an auditing environment
• Must possess unquestionable character, good analytical skills, strong interpersonal and team skills, and good oral and written communication skills
• A working knowledge of the Insurance and Financial Services industry will be an asset
• Systems knowledge and familiarity
